Pride Art Competition

General Rules

  • Artwork must be the artist‘s original creation and not a copy or reproduction.

  • The content should be all ages appropriate.

  • Printing-ready art files – Notes about submitting print-ready art: When submitting an art file we need a vector file (SVG, PDF, EPS, CDR, AI) or a 300-600 dpi resolution photoshop/ equivalent file that is created to the desired print size or larger. The artwork should not exceed five colors.

  • Media: Two dimensional artworks to be used for shirts, totes, fans, stickers and other items used to fundraiser for the 501c3 nonprofit.

  • Theme: 20 years of Indulgence

Judging Criteria:

  • 1. Creativity and Originality:

    • What it is: Does the artwork demonstrate a unique perspective and innovative ideas?

    • Why it matters: A winning piece should stand out and not simply replicate existing styles or themes.

  • 2. Technical Skill and Mastery:

    • What it is: How well the artist has used their chosen medium and techniques.

    • Why it matters: A strong foundation of skill is essential for creating a compelling artwork.

  • 3. Composition and Design:

    • What it is: How effectively the artist has arranged the elements of the artwork to create a balanced and visually engaging piece.

    • Why it matters: A strong composition draws the viewer’s eye and enhances the overall impact of the artwork.

  • 4. Interpretation of the Theme “Radical Joy through the lens of the LGBTQIA2S+ community”:

    • What it is: How well the artist has understood and responded to the theme of the competition.

    • Why it matters: If the competition has a specific theme, the judges should evaluate how well the artwork addresses and interprets it.

  • 5. Overall Impact and Impression:

    • What it is: The overall effect of the artwork on the viewer.

    • Why it matters: A winning piece should leave a lasting impression and evoke a strong emotional response.

Delivering Artwork:

  • Art work must be sent digitally through the submission form. Artwork must be received by The Order of Benevolent Bliss by June 6th

There will be two awarded placements for June 2025- June 2026. First place prize will be $500 and second place prize will be $250

The first place artist will be featured as the Order of Benevolent Bliss’ 2025-2026 featured artist. The Order will credit the artist any time their art is displayed or distributed. The artist should be ready to transfer ownership of the art to the Order of Benevolent Bliss. The Order will be using the first place winners art as 2025-2026 pride merchandise to raise funds for The Order to rise and respond to the needs of the LGBTQIA2S+ community and those who are othered by dominant culture.

2025-2026 submissions will be displayed on the website crediting the artist and linking to their own webstore and social media pages. All artists will be required to sign a release allowing the publishing of their credited works on our social media and website. All artists who submit work will be invited to the Pride Amplified event June 28th 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm to sell their art.

Submissions must be received by June 4th.

A decision on the winning artwork will be announced June 10th.
