Home town?
I grew up in San Jose, California. I have been living in Portland, Oregon since 2001 When did you discover your calling? The calling to be a Sister discovered me. I had always admired the Sisters and the work they do from afar, but it wasn't until I joined and started doing the work of a Sister that I realized I had found my home.

Why did you join?
I have always believed that one should give back more than one takes. The Sisters presented an opportunity to do that in a fun and positive way.

Religious beliefs (if any)?
I believe that religion is like language. It gives us a vocabulary to speak about something which, ultimately, cannot be described. I am fluent in Christianity and in Neopaganism. I can ask where the bathroom is in Buddhism and a few others. But religion is only the outward vocabulary of an inward spirituality. The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence finds spirituality in acts of service to the community. The promulgation of omniversal joy and expiation of stigmatic guilt are spiritual concepts that allow us to serve people no matter what language they speak.

Some projects of which I am most proud:

-World AIDS Day activities, including the Light Fantastic! retro dance party and the procession of the Veils of shame and Rememberence.
- Establishing quarterly visits with SMYRC (Sexual Minority Youth Resource Center) to connect with youth and promote safer sex among that population.
- Establishing a relationship with the Mulnomah County HIV and STD Prevention Program to do recruiting for monthly free HIV, Syphilis, and Hep C testing in local bars.

Goals and aspirations?
To creatively and effectively impact the Portland GLBT community to promote healthy sexual choices, promulgate omniversal joy, and expiate stigmatic guilt.

Other People's Words That I Find Instructive

As I grow to understand life less and less,
I learn to love it more and more.
Jules Renard

The whole of life is but a moment of time. It is our duty, therefore to use it, not to misuse it.

Plutarch

Life is a pure flame,
and we live by an invisible sun within us.

Sir Thomas Brown

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow-not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below-indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God

Romans 8:38-39
